The pandemic has brought to the front the value of on time delivery in the retail and logistics business sphere. However, delivering a package to its destined address is not as simple as it seems. It is essential to ensure efficient last-mile delivery to keep up with the ever-increasing demand for fast shipping. Several inherent issues plague the last-mile delivery, including increased consumer demands, rigid legacy systems, disorganised planning, and communication gaps. At the same time, consumers have been placing orders online at an unprecedented rate, and shipping services have hit full capacity. To stand a chance against the tide of challenges, logistics firms and retailers need a lending hand to step up their distribution game.

UBsend, a web-based last-mile ship - ping management solutions provider, helps its clients with innovative, flex - ible, and secure tools that help make a difference in logistics and the supply chain. The company was founded to swiftly move local etailers or retailers to the international market and provide them with the flexibility to choose from different carriers in each country. The firm ensures that large enterprises and SMEs are always provided with the opti mal solutions for their parcels in terms of carrier selection, lead time, prices, and customer experience.

Fully Customisable Last-Mile Delivery Solution

UBsend has built a tech stack to help its clients etailers and retailers onboard the best-in-class shipping carriers. The tech stack enables the firm’s clients to access information on carriers, services offered, and regional shipping companies, among other things. With an emphasis on the tech stack, UBsend’s comprehensive solution suite comprises: end-to-end tracking, parcel distribution, express shipments, B2C and B2B multicarrier shipping, and reverse logistics. “As an omnichannel logistics provider, we have helped move millions of parcels every year,” says Flemming Amar Raza, CEO of UBsend.

UBsend allows customers to inte grate its solution seamlessly with their current operations without demanding high cost and administrative changes. Through its array of interfaces, the company helps clients with software integration in three ways. For example, the first is API integration, where the spec entails three APIs: one for book ing, the other for PUDO (pick-up and drop-off) and lockers, and the last for customs. The API supports standalone use cases such as parcel label printing and powerful functions to enable ship ping process automation from rating to delivery and beyond.

For those clients who do not prefer API integration and like to have the data transmitted the traditional way, UBsend helps them implement the electronic data interchange.

Lastly, for shipping businesses that print millions of package labels, where API can sometimes be slow, UBsend installs a server at the client’s facility for offline or on premise printing that results in a swift printing process with no lag in response time.

Excellence: All the Way

UBsend strives to be the leading integration platform. The company has enabled leading firms to achieve their goals by powering them with novel solutions. In one instance, UBsend helped, About You, a German fashion online retailer go live in 13 European countries within a year as the retailer was looking to expand quickly. With a single seamless API integration from UBsend instead of 13 different integrations, the client expanded its global footprint and saved mainly on the integration cost. The client can now deliver millions of parcels and establish itself as a dominant player in the European market.

Our continuous efforts are aimed at understanding the pain points and offering our clients a solution that is tailored to their needs

In another example, UBsend collaborated with ECCO, one of the world’s foremost premium shoe brands. Instead of the distribution centres, UBsend helped the client ship directly from their stores to consumers and its other branches in different parts of the world. With an omnichannel API integration into their cashier system, UBsend enabled the golf shoe brand to carry out b2b and b2c shipments through the same carrier in each country. UBsend established return centres where clients could scan their goods or the codes and reimburse their customers quickly, which ultimately reduced the time from 2-3 weeks to only two days. Moreover, UBsend developed this solution in collaboration with the carrier to help them print the labels directly in the client’s shop.

As a true B2B example, one of the biggest retailers in Europe has opted for an EDI integration, where UBsend is distributing to their shops.

The cli ent has a web-based application called UBsend, where they can send ship ments between the shops and imple ment returns. UBsend has helped to integrate to POS so shops can print and ship the parcel or even have label less solution.

As a part of the original solution, it has helped increase the shops’ sales. The client utilises differ ent carriers in every country, and UB send has brought forth the best ones in each region.

Sustainability

UBsend is also big on supporting sustainability. As a part of its onboarding strategy, when employing last mile carriers or line hauliers onto their tech stack, the firm adheres to sustainability, offsetting, and carbon-neutral transportation programs. UBsend aims to be transparent and carrier agnostic. The company recommends its customers to different carriers by highlighting them on a measuring scale based on the various strategies they have around sustainability.

  • As an omnichannel logistics provider, we have helped move millions of parcels every year

Another critical aspect that UBsend focuses on while working with carriers is social dumping; it audits and assesses drivers’ behaviours, and if they are found non-compliant, UBsend bans such entities and cuts off all professional ties with those companies. It is a part of their corporate strategy, and UBsend performs a deep scan while conducting the selection of the carriers through the European or the global market.

Into the Future

A few years ago, UBsend acquired Coureon Logistics and its unique multicarrier management platform. The acquisition supports the future growth of UBsend and its ambition to become a key player in the e-commerce and aftersales logistics market in Europe while enabling companies to orchestrate multiple providers in their supply chain seamlessly. The company is focused on sustainable growth and has grown around 40 to 50 per cent annually. On the distribution side, the UBsend team is cognizant of the difficulties faced by carriers and consumers. “Our continuous efforts are aimed at understanding the pain points and offering our clients a solution that is tailored to their needs,” says Raza.
